Last but not least my kids favorite
@ Moong dal Halwa.

Apart from the dessert, today I am going to share a different way in which you will be able to make any of the above-mentioned items with one single kind of batter. I generally try and make this batter in bulk and keep it in the refrigerator for instant hunger of my kids or for snack time options. Because many times if we don't see any good option for our child we generally end up giving them packed junk like chips or biscuits.
So it is always better to play safe and effective to keep things like this in your refrigerator. So you take only 5 to 10 mins for preparing anything for instant hunger or for time pass munching.

To start with you need -
1 Two cups of moong dal
2 Onion 2 fine chopped
3 Vegetable of your choice approx. 1 cup finely chopped. ( I generally use capsicum, bell peppers, carrot and mushrooms)
4 3 to 4 tablespoons of Gram flour (Besan)
5 Green chilies ( I don't use them because my kids don't eat very spicy but if yours do, you can)
6 Fresh coriander leaves
7 Ginger garlic paste
Spices -
1 Salt as per taste
2 Black pepper
3 Amchur
4 Ground coriander
And
5 Roasted cumin powder for flavor.

Recipe -
Add moong dal to a mixer grinder and make a smooth powder that no concrete part left. Add ginger-garlic paste, onion, chopped vegetables into it and give a good mix. Now add all the spices as per your kid's taste. I don't use many spices because my kids don't eat too much spicy food, so I am going not very bland but with a minor seasoning of black pepper.
Add water to it and make a thick consistency.
Now the trick is if you want to make chilla of this add a little more water and make a smooth batter so it spreads on your pan easily,
if you are making pakora add two tablespoons of besan into it and a pinch of baking soda to give softness to it.
For Idli's add this paste into idli batters if you have or just add one cup of semolina and 1/2 cup curd and water make a smooth batter and add this moong dal paste into it. Then steam your idlis the way you make them. For Idli batter many times I use iD fresh batter, they are perfect for idli's or Dosa, it has a super taste and is very easy to make as well. You can order them with this link given https://amzn.to/3qQQNxp .
For cutlets, I simply add bread crumbs into the batter and make a very thick paste of it by not adding too much water and giving them a shallow fry in a pan till golden brown.

It's time for our Dessert now.

Moong Dal Halwa -
If you guys are reading my blogs every time I post them then you must have noticed that I give only recipes that are simple to cook and less time taking, being a working mom of twins I hardly get time to prepare food with too many preparations. Let's talk about the halwa without any delays then.

To start with you need -

1 Half cup moong dal washed and air dried
2 Half cup of ghee
3       2 cups of milk ( I am using tond milk)
4 3/4th cup of sugar (too much sugar is harmful to kids)
5 Dry fruits of your choice are chopped and roasted well.

Take a pan and add half of half a cup of ghee, because we will be using this balance ghee later in the halwa.
Add grounded moong dal, don't grind it in fine powder, let it be little concrete, stir on medium to low flame properly till the color goes to brown instead of yellow. Once it reaches to mustard or brown colour add 2 cups of milk and stir on medium to low flame, let the milk get dry, keep stirring this paste occasionally, once the milk dries add   3/4 cup of sugar, generally, we use an equal amount of sugar but because this is for kids I am not adding too much of sugar.              Once you will add the consistency halwa starts getting more liquidy, so you need to give it time and keep stirring it. The main ingredient if we talk about any halwa is your hand and spatula because it demands stirring and stirring.
So your halwa is almost ready you can smell an outstanding aroma of moong dal roasted in ghee, thus this is the time to add your choice of dry fruits that we have already chopped and dry roasted here.
Now the trick to making smooth and delicious halwa is to add balance ghee at this stage and keep stirring with the fold and cut method.

Your yummy halwa is ready to serve, let your child enjoy this little lukewarm.

Moong dal has many benefits that we can't even count on our fingers. So if you are using this dal in our daily diet, it is incredibly good for any person.

How to serve Bottle Gourd to Kids

Bottle Gourd - Let’s Hide it.  Well, Being a mom I know how kids react to veggies and their names. It doesn’t matter if your child is 2 years old or 20 years old, if they are picky eaters they will give you a full damn attitude about not eating vegetables. Especially once they start understanding the names of the vegetables or maybe they had listened to their elder ones about not eating Ghiya or Tori, Or Tinde just because these veggies don't sound good or interesting.    But we as mothers know how important it is to feed them these vegetables or their benefits for kids. But even if we don’t talk about all these important or benefits, we need vegetable options thrice a day to make. So from where you will get the fancy vegetable options all the time, especially in Indian kitchens where these Dal, sabzi and roti formulas run daily.
